Our M-Featured Artist, Arden Kaywin makes her MultiFestival and Columbus debut, think Sarah McLachlan meets Alanis Morissette. Arden is a 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards Nominee for Female Vocalist of the Year, her song "Me With Me" has been nominated for Pop Song of the Year by the 2005 Independent Music Awards!

Arden Kaywin is a Los Angeles based pop/singer-songwriter known for her singular voice and phenomenal live show. Having played at such Los Angeles landmarks as House Of Blues, The Mint, Hotel Cafe, and The Viper Room, Arden played her first show at the Sunset Strip's legendary Roxy Theatre in April 2006 and made her New York debut to a packed house at The Living Room in November 2005.

Arden's debut album, Quarter Life Crisis, was officially released on February 21, 2006. It is available on Arden's website, www.ardenkaywin.com, as well as on iTunes.com and most other online music stores. Her catchy single, "Me With Me" is currently in rotation on independent radio stations across the country as well as numerous iTunes Podcasts. She has also been an in studio guest on KCLA 99.3 FM and KXLU 88.9FM in Los Angeles, and iRadio Suite 108. Arden was recently nominated as Female Vocalist of the Year by the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards, and her single "Me With Me" is in the running for an Independent Music Award for Pop Song of the Year .

The momentum doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon for this young siren, whose musical stylings are often compared to artists such as Sara McLachlan and Alanis Morissette. She was recently chosen by Naspter.com to be an Artist In Residence and just finished recording some exclusive content for them including a session for Napster Live. She had the featured album on the Napster.com pop page from October 6-19, 2005. Another exciting development is that Arden's song Me With Me was featured on the WBs new hit show RELATED (Oct. 26, 2005). Four songs from her album were also featured on episodes of the NBC show HOME TEAM and her song "When Will It Happen" will be featured in an episode of the WB network's new show PEPPER DENNIS.

Please visit Arden's websites at www.ardenkaywin.com and www.myspace.com/ardenkaywin, where she maintains contact with her growing fan base through her fan club, music streams, videos, show dates, Arden's promotional E-Team, reviews, and a journal.

"This is great, genuine pop music. I feel like I always have to qualify it when I call something pop. I don't mean Britney/Christina/Jessica pop. I mean intelligent songwriting, uplifting melodies, strong lyrics, and pleasing vocals. That kind of pop. The only kind we need in my not so very humble opinion. I would compare Arden favorably to Jonatha Brooke (especially in The Story days), as well as Vanessa Carlton (but with a much better voice). So if you like either of those, or really any mature female fronted pop, this is a good choice."
Amy Lotsberg for Collected Sounds

"It's delightful, once in a while, to discover (with an accompanying jolt of surprise) that, against all the odds, there's some really worthwhile music out there in the mainstream. Arden Kaywin is nothing if not mainstream, but there's more than enough personality, individuality and imagination in what she does to make her debut album well worth investigating. On first hearing, the hardened left-of-centre critic in me was saying, "Yeah, yeah, another Alanis Morissette meets Sarah McLachlan with a twist of Mariah Carey clone," but something kept me listening and after a couple more songs I knew this was something I'd have to pay more attention to. Returning to the album a day or two later, it was already starting to sound like an old friend, and a couple of repeated plays confirmed that Ms Kaywin has much more to offer than just another goulash of gone-dull girls. Much of the enjoyment in Quarter Life Crisis comes from Kaywin's performances which inject life and vitality into every track."
Review from Back On The Tracks

"Arden's lyrics are clever and intimate. Vocally she's dynamite never allowing her toughness to ever get too "grrrl" but easily as gritty as Alanis. Truly a great album, Quarter Life Crisis tells a story that each and every one of you needs to hear."
Editor's Pick for Smother.net

"Arden Kaywin's first foray into the piano-pop world can be considered a success, if not simply for the fact that it provides solid pop tunes that don't actually sound like everything else on the radio."

Myke Rock wears a lot of hats. He came to prominence as a member of one of the first punk rock bands in Columbus in the late 70's early 80's and later as a gateway to getting Ohioans on the trashy daytime talk-show circuit; but he's always been more interested in local bands than Jerry Springer. He is currently the bassist for The Johnny Rockets and The Decals, serves on the Community Festival Entertainment Committee and produces Myke Rock Radio: "The Best Radio That Isn't!", and performs solo in the MultiFestival Showcase Series. Rock founded the statewide series nearly three years ago and has played in 112 of the 118 events. See what they're saying, check out Myke Rock's pages, listen to a song or two, and more, below!

He writes songs about his love for the female foot and where scum comes from and visits strawberry fields in a bizarro world of bass guitar and vocal.
~Excerpt, M-FEST Archive

Seeing a solo set by Myke Rock, who accompanied himself on bass, was the surprise of the fest for me. I was impressed. His set closer, the Beatles "Strawberry Fields Forever", was TERRIFIC! Correctly played parts and all!
~John Petric, The Other Paper, Columbus (Comfest 2004)

I was lucky enough to have caught the MultiFest gig at Fats Billiards a few months ago as I was reminded my friends in The Bogtrodders were also playing. I saw Myke Rock play his set along with a few Beatles tunes on bass and I was Blown away! I'm a huge Beatles fan and also a bass player, what a treat!
~DJ Pug

I was stunned to hear Fender bass and a soulful voice singing a song about where scum comes from. Like a deer caught in headlights, I severely dug his set. I was absolutely amazed. ~I.D. FLUX, Internet

Becky Henkel makes her 6th MultiFestival Showcase Series appearance, having done a bang-up job each and every time. That's quite a feat, seeing that Henkel has been playing electric piano for less than a year! Her beautiful voice and exquisite original works make her a prime candidate for long-term success. Her sound, sometimes reminiscent of Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and Avril Lavigne, is immediately appealing. But don't take our word for it, check out some live tracks (recorded in March 2006 at a Columbus Public School for MultiFestival's Musication Edutainment SuperSoloFest), below, and visit www.myspace.com/bexleymae for more!

He survived the coal mines of West Virginia, black lung and all. He's been down on his luck and on top of the world. One absolute constant is Bob Sauls' ability to perform at the top of his craft. A cross between modern bluesman and Mississippi front porch authenticity, Sauls innately touches all souls within earshot, over and over again. His 1989 full length CD "Out Of The Darkness" (Capitol/Sisapa) has proven a steadfast endeavor as much as Bob Sauls himself, selling steadily world-wide to this day. Sauls has been busy lately with his new and successful music store and recording studio, Bob's Guitar Shack (19 E. Duncan at High St, Columbus, 614-261-9558), and has been making "significant headway" on his soon-to-be-released CD, which he plans to release for Comfest '06 (Community Festival in Goodale Park, Columbus June 23-25). A successful business man, a music aficionado, a blues enthusiast and Columbus' premiere bluesman. In a nutshell, Bob Sauls stands tall as one of Columbus' greatest musical assets.

Mikaila, the lovely and talented founder of Blackout Lounge has been a stellar performer in the MultiFestival Showcase Series, including her awesome solo works. The new band has her followers chomping at the bit to see what will be unleashed from this enticing, mouthwatering singer/guitarist/songwriter. Check out some tunes at www.myspace.com/blackoutlounge. A little birdie tells me you just might catch a glimpse of a rising star!

Simply known as "Lyle", he makes his 5th MultiFestival appearance, bringing some flavor only represented by Lyle's individualism. A subtle darkness, a turn of a phrase and the grey strokes on his guitar combine with other not-so-easily definable elements, presenting one seemingly fleeting anomaly after another. But when you see him again, you'll find the story never ends, but continues with twists and turns one never foresees.

JEREMY MILLS
Jeremy Mills makes his 4th MultiFestival appearance. To call him a singer/songwriter, folk, and blues would kind of fit. But it just doesn't do much to encompass this artist. He has a unique, one-of-a-kind voice and a musical disposition all his own.
Why don't you come check him out and let us know. Trust us, it'll be worth the trip!

Felix remains one of the funniest and most personable artists in recent memory. His songs take on many forms with unexpected twists and punch, and punchlines. But don't confuse him with a pure comedic musician. He can be, if and when he wants. But he can also get serious with a poignant passion. Still, a smile and a laugh always lurks around the bend.
