"QUOTES" - What They Say About MYKE ROCK!

Seeing a solo set by Myke Rock, who accompanied himself on bass, was the surprise of the fest for me. I was impressed. His set closer, the Beatles "Strawberry Fields Forever", was TERRIFIC! Correctly played parts and all! His originals? The New King of Local Idiosyncratics!
John Petric, The Other Paper, Columbus (On Community Festival, COMFEST)

I was lucky enough to have caught the MultiFest gig at Fats Billiards a few months ago as I was reminded my friends in The Bogtrodders were also playing. I saw Myke Rock play his set along with a few Beatles tunes on bass and I was Blown away! I'm a huge Beatles fan and also a bass player, what a treat!
DJ Pug

I was stunned to hear Fender bass and a soulful voice singing a song about where scum comes from. Like a deer caught in headlights, I severely dug his set. I was absolutely amazed.

Myke Rock Facts/Bio

Myke Rock was born in 1963 in Columbus, Ohio. His father played electric guitar around the house from time to time and piqued Rock's interest in music, sparking exploration. Around age 11, Rock began to play bongos in school talent shows. Bongos, led to congas, and congas led to drums, all the while touching on guitar and then a spot of bass. At 13, he taught his sister Nina to play basic but solid drums and his sister Beth to play unconventional 2, 3 and 4 string guitar chords he calls "bass chords". Rock, of course, took on bass duties. The threesome went on to
play ~and win!~ a number of parks and recreation department talent shows, rewarded by playing at the Ohio State Fair. The local CBS affiliate WBNS-TV broadcasted the show called "Schoolies". At 15, Rock quit school to play bass for one of Columbus' first punk rock bands Screaming Urge, almost immediately throwing himself into the role of booking agent. Rock booked and played tours of the Midwest, East Coast, Southeast (as far as Texas), and parts of Canada, while staging annual, semi-annual and occasional nightclub-sized music festivals. Screaming Urge disbanded after about 3 1/2 years, having recorded 2 full-length LPs and a single that today sell for $50 to $125 each! After years in various bands, Rock turned his attention to national television talk shows, in '95. He founded the only service of its kind in the country. A full-time "stringer" service providing pre-screened talk show guests who fit the topics producers posed. Rock went on to book over 500 central Ohioans on programs such as Springer, Maury and Sally. In fact, Rock himself appeared on national TV talk shows 11 times including 3 trips as featured musical guest on the Jenny Jones Show, all tied in to his adamant foot fetish! In late 2002, Rock began to prepare for an unusual solo bass and vocal career. In August 2003, he lauched the MultiFestival Showcase Series, the only ongoing statewide showcase series in the world, which produces about 50 showcases a year. August 2003, also saw the release
of "Dislabeled", a five-song CD of only bass guitar and vocal. Rock's 2nd solo re-
lease "Scum Come From" is released on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2005.

Myke Rock CD: SCUM COME FROM!

The Court Of The Lonely Ranger - A Poem by Myke Rock

On my first solo CD, "Dislabeled", The Court Of The Lonely Ranger appears as a spoken word just preceding the song, "The Lonelest Man On The Earth". The CD was released in late 2003 and I wrote the poem about 15 years ago. It had stayed there in a stack of yet-to-be-used original works until the release of Dislabeled. Here, you will see the piece in visual, written form for the first time ever.

The Court Of The Lonely Ranger by Myke Rock (All Rights Reserved)

If death can be caused by lonliness, then I am thereby dead
Time after time, day after day, month after month
I am so lonely I wanna turn monk
longing longer than ever before, I yearn for a good woman's touch
Although less than good, I cannot turn away
a viscious cycle, another day
another day, the same sad song
How in the world could I be that wrong!...again!
Time and time again, I find myself going after the woman who turns my head
But she sees me as being dead...from loneliness
She smells it, it shows through
Can't shake it, I'm doomed
If being lonely was a felony, I'd surely get life in prison without parole
Perhaps death would be more humane
Swift relief, no more pain
I'd throw my heart and soul on the mercy of the court of the lonely ranger
Begging for the answer to "Where does this loneliness end?
Where is the virtue?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peace!,

Myke Rock
